2011 new Fiat Uno

Fiat from Brazil released today the first photos of the new Uno, compact which will be launched in the country on May 4. Based on the Panda, the new hatch has a more rounded design inspired by the microcar 500. The new Uno will have four versions for sale: Vivace 1.0, Attractive 1.4 and crossover Way as 1.0 and 1.4 engines that have been enhanced to be more efficient about fuel economy.The car will also offer customers the ability to customize panel and bodywork.

Citroën AirCross

Citroën in Brazil released today the first images of the new AirCross, a crossover version of the C3 Picasso MPV. The AirCross will be produced in Brazil in August with 1.6 16V engine and 16-inch alloy wheels. Citroën intends to compete in the segment where today are the Volkswagen CrossFox, an off-road version of the hatch Fox, and Idea Adventure, from Fiat.
The differences with the Europena C3 Picasso are in the front, with a modified grille, new bumper, roof rack, relocation of the spare tire to the rear hatch and several lamps of plastics.

Peugeot Hoggar

Peugeot unveiled the first information and pictures of your new vehicle produced in Brazil. It is the Hoggar, a compact pickup truck that uses the base of the hatch 207, actually a redesigned 206.

The Hoggar will be launched in Brazil on May 15 and will have the largest cargo capacity of the category with 742 kg and 1 151 liters of volume in the cargo bay.
The pickup has two engine choices – 1.4 and 1.6, both flex-fuel – and three versions, including Escapade with visual off-road.

The manufacturer’s goal is to sell about 2 500 units per month. There is no information if you want to export the Peugeot Hoggar to other countries.

Last month, the Brazilian auto market broke another record. It was the best February ever with over 211 thousand vehicles sold.

Fiat is the most popular brand in Brazil in 2010 and Chevrolet and Volkswagen battle for 2nd place. Korean automakers Hyundai and Kia continue to expand its sales in Brazil. Hyundai, for example, is ahead even Toyota and remains as the 7th most popular brand in the country.

Among the vehicles, the old Fiat Uno Mille stole 2^nd place for the Palio and Toyota Corolla maintains the lead among the larger vehicles. Check below the 200 best-selling cars in Brazil in February 2010.

2010 Ford Focus Hatch 2.0 Flex

Launched in 2008 with only petrol engine, the Ford Focus has just received another flex-fuel engine. After releasing version 1.6 with Sigma engine in December 2009, Ford introduced the 2.0 Duratec engine flex-fuel this week. Now all the line-up uses flex-fuel engines.
The engine power, which was 143 hp, increased to 146 hp with the use of ethanol. Nonetheless, Ford said that the gain in performance occurred in the torque at low revs.

The automaker also replaced the manual gearbox MTX, manufactured in France, by the IB5+ transmission,  produced locally. Thus the vehicle prices fell an average of 3%. The Focus sold in Brazil is produced in the town of Pacheco, Argentina.

BMW X1 xDrive28i

BMW began selling in Brazil this month the new X1 crossover. The version chosen for the launch was the xDrive28i, with all wheel drive and 6-cylinder engine with 258 hp.
The X1 is a vehicle that, despite the appearance of off-road, was created for urban use. the height of the car, for example, is only 1.54 m, only 12 centimeters more than the BMW 120i.

The X1 xDrive28i is priced at $ 174 900 in Brazil, almost 100 000 dollars. BMW will also sell sDrive18i version in June, 4-cylinder engine with 150 hp and rear wheel drive. The goal of this German company is selling about a thousand cars in 2010.

2010 Toyota Auris

Toyota is only the 7th most popular brand in Brazil, but is not satisfied with this position. The automaker’s goal is to join the four major local automakers – Fiat, Volkswagen, General Motors and Ford – and it invests in new factory in the country.
In this new plant, Toyota will manufacture the Etios compact in hatch and sedan versions and was shown recently in India. But Etios only expected to arrive at dealer showrooms in 2012. Before that, however, the Japanese plans to expand its participation in the Brazilian market with a simple strategy: produce the Auris hatchback in Brazil.

The vehicle shares the same platform with Corolla, but has its own style. He just received a facelift in Europe and could be produced at the factory that Toyota has in the state of Sao Paulo.

Quatro Rodas,  most reputable car magazine of Brazil, confirms the information in its latest edition. Quatro Rodas said that Toyota wants to renew its image in the country, today associated with an older audience.

2010 Volkswagen Saveiro Cross

Volkswagen presented to the press the newest version of Saveiro compact pickup truck. The Saveiro Cross received a visual off-road like the CrossFox to compete with the Strada Adventure pickup truck, from Fiat.

The basic mechanics, however, remained the same as the other versions. The exception was the addition of Pirelli Scorpion ATR tyres. The size increased due to the plastic inserts in the bumpers, fenders and grill.

Like CrossFox, Saveiro Cross has H7 headlights with dual function lighting. The truck got cover as well as power steering, power windows, trip computer and alarm.

Other items such as air conditioning, airbags, ABS and steering wheel are optional. The price of Saveiro Cross is $ 41 840 (23 200 dollars), but can reach $ 47 937 ( 26 600 dollars) with all equipment supplied.

Chevrolet Camaro

The president of General Motors for international operations, Tim Lee, was in Brazil this week in his first official visit. Mr. Lee attended a press conference for the Brazilian press on Thursday, 18, in Sao Paulo, and said the automaker plans to sell the Camaro in Brazil in 2011.
The pony car will be exposed in the Sao Paulo Auto Show, held in October, and should go on sale starting January 2011. Along with Camaro, the Malibu sedan will also be imported this year to face Ford Fusion.

Nevertheless, the volume of sales of these vehicles should be small due the high taxes levied by the Brazilian government for goods imported.

2011 Volkswagen SpaceFox

A reader of the site Argentina Auto Blog succeeded catching a unit test SpaceFox restyled, named Suran in the country. The Volkswagen station wagon ended up with its release delayed due to the arrival of the pickup Amarok, which is also manufactured in the unit of Pacheco.

The car was photographed in the city of Cordoba in the north and was disguised to look like the current version.

The release date of the new SpaceFox, however, is undefined. Some believe in the 2nd quarter and others who only come in the 2nd half.
